Pinawa’s Arlene Bohn had an idea - the creation of a community event that combined our thriving arts community with the many winter activities available in our beautiful town. A committee was formed, the community mobilized to make it happen and the inaugural Whiteshell Winter Arts Festival was born. With the 2018 event ‘in the books’, the committee has bravely come together again to organize this wonderful winter event a second time!
The 2019 Whiteshell Winter Arts Festival showcases art of all kinds through displays, demonstrations and workshops taking place at a variety of locations throughout our town. There will be many different workshops and activities to choose from, such as clay sculpting, photography, puppet making, snow painting and much more! Local authors will showcase their work, offer writing workshops and perform readings. Our performing artists will be returning to entertain at the Festival Dinner and Brunch, and will provide lovely background music as you explore the work of our local artists at the Art Show and Sale at the Wilderness Edge Retreat and Conference Centre.
When you are done experiencing and enjoying the art, you can pop outside and enjoy the many winter activities organized by our wonderful volunteers, such as curling events, cross country skiing and snow shoeing. Your kids will love our tobogganing hill, snow sculpture workshops, as well as our community Bonfire with S’mores! We have something to accommodate everyone, no matter your interest, no matter your age! Stay tuned for the exciting updates and artist highlights leading up to the festival!
